The other day portal IGN published a video with a selection of “9 cool black characters from video games,” dedicated to the month of African American history, which is celebrated annually in February in the United States and Canada.
A very tolerant video, in which the authors mentioned that the developers are finally starting to pay more attention to black heroes and heroines in games, unexpectedly caused a flurry of discontent among users. The number of dislikes below it significantly exceeds the number of positive responses.
In the comments, users note that such collections are extremely inappropriate due to the emphasis on the color of the characters’ skin, and also say that the authors should not have made a video at all. Someone even noticed that by this principle it is possible to assemble a selection of game heroes with two eyes, a nose, a mouth and ears.
