Everything is bad? People Can Fly still hasn’t received Outriders sales royalties

Polish studio People can fly still haven’t received from Square enix no royalties for Outriders

The shooter debuted on April 1 and immediately appeared in Game pass… At the end of the first month, the launch of the project was considered successful and exceeded the publisher’s expectations in terms of the number of players, including due to the availability by subscription.

According to the developers, this could mean that after the calendar quarter and 45 days after the release, Outriders has not reached the break-even point

“We do not have sales data for Outriders. We estimate they are in the range of 2 to 3 million copies, and we expected that with this result, the project will become profitable in the first quarter of sales,” said Sebastian, CEO of People Can Fly. Voitsekhovsky.

The head of People Can Fly suggested that the reason for the lack of royalty payments could also be related to some elements of Square Enix’s publishing policy that they are not aware of, such as the company’s partnerships with distribution platforms. One way or another, the studio is not going to speculate and will continue to analyze the situation.

At the same time, Wojciechowski recalled that Outriders is still at the beginning of its planned life cycle and hopes that further efforts by Square Enix to promote the game will positively affect the issue of royalties. The studio expects to receive the first royalties from Outriders’ sales by the end of this year.
