Disputes over the introduction Apple the performance limitations of older phones have been going on for almost three years. Consumer Advocacy Group Euroconsumers declares that European owners iPhone 6 should receive compensation.
In 2018, Apple quietly introduced a performance limitation to prevent accidental shutdowns of older iPhones with low batteries. After complaints, the company offered to replace the battery at a discounted price and also allowed users to disable throttling, but the European group thinks this is not enough.
As reported CNN, people demand compensation in the amount of € 60 for each iPhone 6 owner… Attempts to resolve the issue with Apple out of court were unsuccessful.
Interestingly, in Italy, Apple has already lost the court on this issue. The antitrust authority fined the company € 10 million in 2018, claiming that consumers were tricked into updating software on older iPhones without warning about the impact on device performance. Italy’s administrative court upheld the sanctions in May after Apple filed an appeal. This decision laid the legal basis for class action claims.
