Epic Games Store plans to boost release of exclusives

Recently, there have not been many announcements about exclusives for Epic Games Store, in connection with which some might think that the platform is scrapping this part of its strategy, but in reality everything is just the opposite.

According to a statement made by Epic Games’ spokesperson for journalists PC Gamer, in the next two years, the store will release twice as many exclusives than have been published to date

Since the launch of EGS, more than 100 exclusives have been released in the store. Of these, just under half were temporarily exclusive and are now available on Steam, including Metro: Exodus, Borderlands 3, Control, The outer worlds and Hades, but if we start from this, then in 2023-2023 at least two hundred titles of varying degrees of exclusivity should appear on the platform.

According to PC Gamer’s own calculations, at the moment it is known only about 21 games that will be released in EGS, but have not yet been announced for Steam… These include both titles with purchased exclusivity, as well as games from Epic Games’ own publishing house, as well as projects that will be released on sites other than Valve. The list includes Chivalry 2, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Darkest Dungeon 2, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Far Cry 6, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Riders Republic, Rainbow Six: Quarantine, The Settlers, and unannounced games from Remedy, Playdead and genDesign

Right now Ubisoft is the largest provider of upcoming Epic Store exclusives, although it would be more accurate to call them “semi-exclusives”. Since 2019, Ubisoft has been releasing most of its new titles on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, but not on Steam. The company has not announced that these games will never appear there, but has not announced any dates.

Epic Games also confirmed that plans to release a self-publishing toolkit by the end of the year to make EGS more accessible to new developers

Earlier it became known that in 2023 in the Epic Store were sold third-party games in the amount of $ 265 million, while the number of active users in December was 56 million, which is 75% more than at the end of 2019.
