Enthusiast Stayd showed screenshots of modification for Dark souls 2, whose key goal is to bring back the realistic lighting that the developers showed before the release of the game itself.
The user pays special attention to the visual embodiment of the giants – thanks to such lighting, they look not just threatening, but really scary: “the full feeling that the developers made a big mistake.”
Although realistic lighting was actively shown before the release and it was even present in the beta for the PS3, in the end they decided to abandon it – the official reason was the gluttony of the technique, which is why, especially on consoles, there were performance problems.
At the time, Crowbcat compared the demo of Dark Souls 2 with the final version, which already used more traditional (and “flat”) lighting.
