Techland released the first video from the Q&A session, where the developers answer fans’ questions Dying light…
In the debut video of the series, most of the information has already been reported in one way or another, however, the lead game designer Dying light 2 Timon Smektala also told something interesting – about the consequences of the players’ decisions. Recent rumors have claimed to have been dropped, but the team denies this.
Smektala said that there are three types of decisions in the game:
- Subject – there are few of them, they appear only in the tasks of the main campaign and affect the ending;
- Secondary Are choices in secondary (and sometimes main) missions that partially affect the world. As an example, he cited a mission where an opera singer can be rescued. If she succeeds, she will appear in the hub and sing there;
- Urban – depending on the decisions of the player, this or that faction will seize control over the districts of the city.
The latter type is especially interesting, since locations change not only visually, but also gameplay.
For example, in the area of the peacekeepers there are many “combat assistants” – traps that can be used in battles with people or the infected. And if the region falls to the survivors, they will install ropes, ziplines and trampolines to facilitate movement.
“Depending on the decisions, you can create your own gameplay space and gameplay environment“.
Smectala also said that the behavior of the cat hook in the sequel is very different – if in the original, thanks to him, it was possible to jump around the location almost in style Spiderman, then in the second part everything is much closer to reality. The closest analogy is Tarzan.
What else was said:
- There are almost no firearms – if you wish, you can make some kind of shotgun, which can also be hit in close combat, but it will break after a few shots;
- There will be no controlled vehicles.
Dying Light 2 is being created for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC. The release is expected before the end of the year.
