The ending of a recent remake Final Fantasy VII became the occasion for heated discussions in the fan community. This happened against the background of the fact that the developers decided not to follow clearly in the footsteps of the original and made various changes to the story.
As it usually happens, gamers who managed to be one of the first to go through the novelty hurried to put on YouTube various video clips from the game, including the ending. AND Square enix this is not thrilled. She sent the popular youtuber Shirrako Alert warning of a violation of the “Material Use License”.
Got confirmation that Square Enix is threatening to sue people that upload the ending of FINAL FANTASY VII Remake.
This is unforgivable, we bought the game and we’re not allowed to finish let’s plays / streams or we’ll get sued?

In particular, the company recalled that the ending itself cannot be recorded using the standard PlayStation 4 functionality, since the recording function is blocked at the time of its display.
The final game is protected by a “license to use materials”, which implies that if recording from the PlayStation 4 is not possible, then the episode cannot be removed and shared on YouTube using other methods, too. Square Enix requires violators to remove the ending demonstration on YouTube and threatens that it will use all the tools available to it for the proceedings. Last resort – prosecution through the courts.
The Shirrako blogger, which boasts 1 million followers, expressed outrage at the publisher’s approach and called it “unacceptable,” indicating that users should have the right to do anything with the product they bought. He himself no longer plans to support Square Enix on his channel and promises to stop publishing videos on any of the company’s games.
Other YouTube channels have already begun to hide the video with the ending or delete it altogether.
