Earlier Disney announced that in the light of the coronavirus pandemic, the company will have to send employees on forced unpaid leave whose work is “not so important at the moment.”
As it turned out, this measure also affected the most popular units – that is, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar and Searchlight. Starting last Thursday, April 9, employees receive notifications of upcoming actions. First of all, this applies to those who cannot banally fulfill their tasks due to quarantine restrictions.
The marketing and distribution departments will not do without losses, especially in light of the fact that most of the premier studios have moved to a later date, while the movie theaters themselves remain closed. In other words, there is nothing to advertise at the moment.
How long the holidays will last is unclear. However, those who were forced to leave will still retain their health insurance and other bonuses.
