DiRT Rally authors will develop games under the WRC license and will continue to delight DiRT fans

Publishing house Nacon (BigBen Interactive) in March announced an extension of license terms FIA World Rally Championship until 2023 after which the company will develop and publish WRC games, as well as conduct e-sports tournaments related to the rally franchise Codemasters.

The authors of DiRT and GRID signed an exclusive five-year agreement with the International Automobile Federation to use the license of the World Rally Championship with 2023 by 2027 years in console, computer and mobile games, including annual releases. Their first project in the WRC line will start from April 2023 to March 2024, but despite the deal, Codemasters assured that it is not going to drop the DiRT series – except for the fifth part, which will be released this fall, studio is already working on a continuation of the simulated DiRT Rally.

At the same time, Codemasters also remains the exclusive developer of “Formula 1“at least until 2025. According to a new agreement reached with Formula One Management last fall, the company can also obtain a license for the seasons 2026 and 2027, subject to certain thresholds for performance.

The next part of F1 will be released on July 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.
