As you know, the Czech studio Warhorse did my role play Kingdom Come: Deliverance with money collected for Kickstarter… And although the stated goal was exceeded by more than three times, funds were still not in abundance, which was further aggravated by a number of release transfers.
In order to save money, the English version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance was recognized as the main one, and all efforts were thrown at it. There was not enough money for Czech voice acting, and the developers had to limit themselves to subtitles. And they came out with a record in one of the aspects: the number of curses.
Enthusiasts estimate that the word kurva occurs 304 times in Czech subtitles, an absolute record among all localizations. For example, in the Polish version, kurwa appears 236 times, in the French version, a similar expression sounds 20 times, and the Germans meet it 12 times during the entire story campaign.
Recall that our localizers were able to do without obscene vocabulary at all. Company “Buka“Decided that in the medieval content of the game, our native curses look unnatural.
