Dear Cyberpunk: Analysts estimate the budget of Cyberpunk 2077 is higher than that of Grand Theft Auto V

Recent transfer Cyberpunk 2077undoubtedly disappointed many, however, judging by the pre-orders in Steam, another delay in the release did not lead to a decrease in interest in the game. Analysts are also optimistic.

Analysts at Polish brokerage firm DM BOS predict Cyberpunk 2077 deliveries by year-end 21 million copies, and within 12 months after the release, sales are achieved 34 million… The authors of the forecast admit the possibility of a “positive surprise” in sales if the engagement rate (that is, the percentage of console owners who buy the game) is closer to the results Grand theft auto v and Red dead redemption iithan currently assumed.

Speaking of GTA V, analysts noted that Cyberpunk 2077 has a chance to outperform Rockstar Games in at least one respect. According to them, the estimated budget for the game will eventually amount to 1.2 billion zlotys, that is, approximately $ 314 million… Thus, if the forecast is confirmed, the project of the CD Projekt RED studio will become one of the most expensive games in history, exceeding the budget of the last part of Grand Theft Auto, the development and promotion of which at one time took $ 265 million… In addition, this is four times the budget that CD Projekt spent on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (about PLN 310 million).

The high budget of Cyberpunk 2077 is explained not only by the scale of development, but also by the high costs of marketing. For example, the company reportedly spent $ 2.5 million on advertising a game in Times Square in New York alone.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released December 10th
