Crossplay and Bungie Name Coming To Destiny 2 At The Beginning Of Season 15

Bungie announced that it would add crossplay to Destiny 2 on Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia and PC at the start of the upcoming season, starting August 24. On the same day, by the way, the developers will hold a presentation where they will talk about the future of the shooter.

Each player, regardless of the platform on which he plays, will be assigned a special name – the so-called “Bungie Name“. It will consist of the username that is displayed in the game, as well as a hashtag and a special ID.

For example, if your nickname is Vasya2020, then your Bungie Name might look like Vasya2020 # 1234. Or, for example, as shown in the screenshot below.

The developers also add that before assigning each user his own Bungie Name, all player names are checked for offensive words and using special filters. For example, characters that are not displayed in the game or characters that cannot be typed on consoles will be removed from the names.

It is possible that after this some names will become empty or contain offensive language. Then they will be replaced by the names “Guardian[Случайный номер]“. There will be no name change available for now, but Bungie wants to implement an early version of the feature this winter.

In PvP modes, crossplay will work as follows:

  • PC only with PC (including if there is one PC owner in your group)
  • PlayStation, Xbox and Stadia together.

In the case of PvE modes, there will be no such division, everyone can play together.

So, at the beginning of Season 15, cross-play is being implemented in Destiny 2, after which cross-platform voice chat will be added over time. In winter, it is expected to be able to change names and add text chat on the screens of console versions of games and more.
