Co-Founder of People Can Fly showed an unreleased game Come Midnight – review

Adrian Khmelyazh, co-founder and head of the studios Metropolis software, People can fly and The astronauts, spoke about the game, on which People Can Fly worked in 2004-2006, after the release Painkiller. Noir Detective Horror Come midnight never saw the light.

According to the plot, the action of Come Midnight took place in Boston in 1946, and the main character was to become a private detective Mike Elroy, who knows how to communicate with the dead. The game was intended to be a mixture of Chandler’s novels and Lovecraft’s short stories.

The developers prepared a technical demo – according to Khmelyazh, for that time it looked “fantastic” – and set off to look for a publisher. The game was shown to the largest companies at that time (Khmelyazh mentioned Ubisoft), but not one of them responded.

Frustrated by the lack of interest in their action adventure, People Can Fly stopped working on Come Midnight and set to work. Ravenwolf. And when they started to forget about the game, Thq stated that she wants to take on Come Midnight.

For two years, People Can Fly has done a tremendous amount of work on Come Midnight. Nevertheless, the game never saw the light of day: THQ eventually canceled the project.

Hmelyazh suggests that one of the reasons was that the studio decided to make a multi-platform game on its own engine: it should have chosen, for example, Unreal. There is also the possibility that they were sacrificed in favor of S.T.A.L.K.E.R..

In the large-scale material of the head of the Astronauts studio, you can find many materials on Come Midnight: fragments of design documents, artwork, sketches, concepts and videos.
