Youtuber Bob Wolfe conducted a very unusual experiment, as a result of which he was able to reproduce the film “ArgumentChristopher Nolan’s Handheld Game Console Game boy advance…
Due to the fact that the original Game Boy Advance cartridges able to hold only 30 minutes of video content up to 32 MB, Wolfe had to split the 2.5-hour film into five episodes and then convert them to the lowest quality that an old handheld console can handle. After all the manipulations, the image resolution was reduced to 192 x 128 pixelsand the frame rate dropped to 6 FPS (four times slower than the original playback speed)…
Files of all five series of “Argument” with the extension “.gba“were fine to run on an emulator, but Wolfe decided to take it a step further and ported each episode to real GBA cartridges, customizing them to look exactly like the official lineup. GBA Videowhich were sold in North America between 2004 and 2007.
According to Wolfe, the idea of viewing “Argument” on the little Game Boy Advance screen came to him immediately after Christopher Nolan urged him to watch the tape only in cinemas in order to fully enjoy the intended picture and sound.
“This idea came into my head after Christopher Nolan insisted that we go to the theaters and watch his film. You know, in the midst of a global pandemic, he said:“ This is a film that needs to be enjoyed in theaters on big screen. ”So I immediately thought,“ Yes, that’s right – we should watch it on Game Boy immediately, ”said Bob Wolfe.
