CD Projekt founders believe tolerance improves creativity – review

Not so long ago leadership Cd projekt delayed broadcast Night city wire due to riots in the USA caused by the discontent of the black population. After that, the company joined the “Month of Pride”, repainting the avatar in rainbow colors.
Both of these actions created an avalanche of emotional discussion on social networks. And not everyone stood on the side of tolerance and tolerance. Therefore cd project guide and CD Projekt RED in the person of Adam Kichinsky and Adam Badovsky gave an interview to the publication Rzeczpospolita.

According to Kichinsky, CD Projekt is not the place where they come just to earn a living, and for the management of the studio, business has always been associated with a certain value system. And as the company grew, these beliefs became the foundation on which the spirit and ethical position of the company was built.

The founders of CD Projekt, Marcin Ivinsky and my brother Michal, respected the fact that, given the difference in characters, they emphasize what unites them: a passion for games. Today, 26 years later, when we have become incomparably larger, we are even more clearly aware of how important respect, tolerance and justice are for us.

Our company has a variety of people: from left to right, with different worldviews and views on the economy, representatives of several dozen nationalities and ethnic groups, many from the LGBT community. And we are proud of our diversity, but we are aware that in order to succeed we must actively take care of mutual respect and tolerance.

Adam Kichinsky

Adam Badovsky cited the strategy of the CD Projekt group, which states that the company is struggling with any manifestations of racism, xenophobia and homophobia and believes that tolerance is an important element in the development of creativity and innovation. After all, employees can direct energy not to conflicts, but to creativity.

Andrzej Sapkowski resolutely smashed racism in his books. Both in books and in our games there is a theme of the struggle of people with “nonhumans” – elves, dwarves, and others. We show what the stigma of differences leads to, how social inequality affects attitudes toward others, what people can be when they do not reckon with those who are weaker.

IN Cyberpunk – same. Mike Pondsmith’s textbook, which we are inspired by, was written in the 1980s, and even then the author was very liberal in his approach to the issue of gender modification. It meant much less than a sense of self, its own style – and therefore proved to be much more flexible.

I really hope that Cyberpunk 2077like “The witcher“Earlier, it will surprise everyone with how many bold, wise and adult stories you can tell in a video game. But we will return to this topic after the November premiere, when it will be possible to tell more details.

Adam Badovsky
