Although the results shown Resident evil 3, well below other games in the franchise, Capcom they are completely satisfied. The company stated that “the results do not deviate much from its internal sales target.”

As of June 30, RE3 had sold an estimated 2.7 million copies. This figure is 55% lower compared to the starting figures for Resident Evil 2 and 30% lower than the sales of Resident Evil 7.

Comparison of starting sales of the latest games in the series:

  • Resident Evil 5 – 5 million (3 months)
  • Resident Evil 6 – 4.8 million (3 months)
  • Resident Evil 2 – 4.2 million (9 weeks)
  • Resident Evil 7 – 3.5 million (9 weeks)
  • Resident Evil 3 – 2.7 million (12 weeks)

In a conversation with investors, Capcom noted that the pace of sales of the remake is similar to that of the original game for the first PlayStation, since the third part was less popular and sold significantly less circulation than its predecessors (including Director’s Cut-versions).
