California hacker faces 25 years in prison for hacking Nintendo servers and storing child porn

California resident pleads guilty to server hacking Nintendo in order to steal confidential information. This was reported by representatives of the US Department of Justice.

It’s about a 21 year old Ryan Hernandez. In 2016, a young man and his accomplice contacted an employee of a Japanese platform holder to steal confidential information. As a result, they prematurely learned about the company’s plans for Nintendo switch.

In 2017, FBI officers contacted Hernandez and his family, demanding that the Californian stop hacking attempts. He confirmed to law enforcement officers that he understood the consequences that his further actions could lead to, but did not refuse illegal activity.

Law enforcement officers found that from June 2018 to June 2019, Hernandos hacked several Nintendo servers. Moreover, for some reason the Californian boasted of his successes on social networks and on his own forum called Ryan’s underground hangout, and also shared data on vulnerabilities in the publisher’s network.

In June 2019, the FBI put an end to Hernandez’s criminal activities. During the searches, law enforcement officers discovered thousands of confidential files, as well as child pornography, which greatly aggravated the position of the hacker.

Now the case of Ryan Hernades is considered by an American court. He faces up to five years in prison for hacking and up to 20 years for the possession of child pornography. In addition, the defendant agreed to pay Nintendo in compensation of more than 259 thousand dollars.
