Bruce Straley, one of the series’ lead developers Uncharted and original The last of us, finished the walkthrough The Last of Us: Part II – the game was created without the participation of the game director, who left Naughty Dog after a difficult development Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End…
My head is still spinning from the amount of incredible detail in every pixel of my 30 hour walkthrough. Congratulations to the entire Naughty Dog team on this incredible achievement.
Straley also expressed his respect from the entire studio, as the overall production level for the sequel was incredible – “every pixel, animation, line of code and line of dialogue.”
The overall level of talent and enthusiasm of the team is overwhelming. Respect!
In addition, Straley talked about one of the sequel’s Easter eggs about himself.
One of the superhero cards that Ellie collects depicts Randy Styles – this is, apparently, the nickname of Straley himself. Under this nickname, Bruce, along with Neil Druckmann (DrUckmann) played in the original multiplayer Gears of war…
In the description of the card itself, it is stated that “Randy” was a partner of “Dr. Ackmann” who worked late into the night on various technologies for the prosperity of mankind. Once, however, he disappeared without a trace.
Months later, according to rumors, “Randy” appeared in different parts of the world, where he helped people and again disappeared.
This is an allusion to reality: Straley and Druckmann released several blockbusters together, but after the release of the original The Last of Us, they had to abruptly switch to Uncharted 4, because they suddenly left Naughty Dog. Amy Hennig…
As a result, the couple, not having time to rest from one heavy production, switched to the creation of another blockbuster, which had to be urgently put in order.
The Uncharted finale was eventually successfully released, but Strailey “burned out” and even after a year’s vacation could not bring himself to return to Naughty Dog. He is now a consultant for many game developers.
