According to the mayor, concerns about coronavirus are fueled by confusion and an initial lack of clear information, which has already led to an increase in anti-Chinese and anti-Asian sentiments both in Boston and in the United States as a whole.
He called for pooling efforts to dispel “harmful and false fears.”
“A large international company like yours, by visiting the show, could set a positive example.”
The mayor added that Sony, a technology and gaming leader, has the opportunity to show that the company is driven by facts, not fears, and demonstrate a commitment to bringing people together rather than isolation.
At the time of this writing, Sony has not responded to the mayor’s call.
