As part of the presentation at the gaming festival PAX East 2023 company Gearbox made several announcements about the future shooter Borderlands 3. We have collected all the key information in this note.
Firstly, on March 13, the PC version of Borderlands 3 will cease to be an exclusive Epic Games store and will be released in the Steam digital service. At the same time, the project will immediately support cross-platform multiplayer between users of the Epic Games Store and Steam. The developers created the SHiFT cross-system, thanks to which, regardless of the preferred PC platform, players will be able to unite in cross-play squads and start a common friendlist.
In the future, Gearbox plans to expand cross-platform functionality. For example, adding the ability to freely send weapons to each other. Right now, anyone interested can add Borderlands 3 to their Steam shopping list, clicking on the link.
Already on March 26, Borderlands 3 will acquire a second content story extension called Guns, Love and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock (“Guns, Love, and Tentacles: Betrothal of Wainwright and Hammerlock”), where players will take part in a surprisingly dangerous wedding party. Sir Alistair Hammerlock and Wainwright Jacbos finally decided to tie the knot, and the celebration of a significant event, it was decided to hold on the icy planet Xylourgos (Zailurgos).
You are waiting for the frozen wasteland, where only the most ferocious fauna could adapt to life, and the eerie town Cursehaven (Kurshaven), nestled under the remains of the long-vanished Monster from the Vault, in which the meeting is scheduled.
And if you don’t have enough unfriendly climate and dangerous predators, get ready to meet with a frightening gang of cultists who worship the body of a dead Monster. They will try their best to spoil the upcoming wedding. Therefore, if the alliance of Wainwright and Hammerlock is still destined to come true, then the players will have to fight with this otherworldly evil. Fortunately, the best wedding planner in the whole galaxy is ready to come to your aid, namely the former Vault hunter Gage, who is still inseparable from her hand-held robot BFF Gestokusok (Deathtrap).

Guns, Love and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock is part of the Borderlands 3 Season Pass, and is also available with the purchase of the Super Deluxe Edition.
In addition to the announcement of the second story expansion, Gearbox and 2K presented a small teaser for the next major DLC, which is expected to be released this summer.. According to the presented concept art, an adventure with bandits and dinosaurs awaits us. The developers plan to share further information about the upcoming third and fourth add-ons later.
Following the authors of Borderlands 3 outlined the roadmap for the upcoming spring free shooter updates. Firstly, in April, the mode will appear in the game Mayhem Mode 2.0 and seasonal event Revenge of the cartels. The new mode is designed to significantly change the endheim content of Borderlands 3, making changes to the work of Mayhem-modifiers. In turn, Revenge of the Cartels will allow heroes to open the hunt for dangerous operatives and thus earn unique rewards.
In May, a new event from the Takedown series will appear in Borderlands 3. Like Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, released last November, a new event called Guardian Takedown will be able to offer Hunters the most challenging and demanding game content. This is a solo quest based on the subject of the mysterious Eridians. It will offer new bosses, cosmetic items and equipment. The complexity of the mission will depend on the number of players in the group, however if you are immediately interested in the maximum challenge, then you have the option to activate the “True Takedown Mode” option, which includes the highest level of difficulty, regardless of the size of your group.
Gearbox developers will continue to share news of announced updates as their premiere approaches. In the second half of 2023, many more surprises await fans of Borderlands 3.
