IN Animal Crossing: New Horizons Players are required to engage in collecting resources, such as fruit, fishing and insects, as well as many other things to develop their island.
All these and other actions in the game look as harmless and pretty as possible, especially with regard to fishing and catching insects, but the organization PETAwho advocates for animal rights does not think so. A note appeared on the organization’s official website with recommendations regarding the “vegan” and “ethical” way of playing the new part Animal crossing.
The note outlines the actions that, according to PETA, will help gamers stick to a vegan lifestyle in the game and protect the environment. They, in particular, imply the abandonment of fishing for fish and insects, because, according to the text of the instruction, it is cruel and harmful to the environment.
Moreover, PETA encourages users to stop visiting the virtual museum, where insects are on display.
For food, the authors recommend only fruits.
However, the most remarkable part of the instruction concerns Tom Nook, who plays in the game as a capitalist and creditor. This section says that it is worthwhile to be condescending to the requirements of the character, even if the player seems to be exploited. Reason: Tom Nook comes from raccoon dogs, which means that he probably encountered terrible events in his life, writes PETA.
“Tom Nook is a tanuki, a raccoon dog. They are often killed for the sake of fur. Tom Nook’s family may have been beaten up, tormented by electric shock, gas poisoned or skinned alive,” the note says.
