This week a Chinese IT company Baidu held its annual technology conference Baidu worldwhere the co-founder and CEO Robin lee unveiled a new mobile robo-taxi platform designed to make self-driving cars available to the general public.
In addition, the intelligent driving program was shown Baidu Apollo, which is an integral part of the machine. It is noted that with the help of it, the car will understand speech, follow orders, and also constantly learn and improve.
The machine itself is equipped with face and voice recognition technology, as well as vertically-opening doors and a transparent glass roof. Controls such as steering wheel and pedals are absent, and instead a large, curved “smart” display sits inside. The cabin also features “zero gravity seats” to minimize the effect of gravity on the driver.
