Atelier Ryza review: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout

Last year series Atelier gave fans three games at once, the most successful of which was Atelier ryza. Autumn release gained such popularity not only because of the sexual outfit of the main character and the ability to play dressing up, but also noticeably lightened rules and laws of the game world.

New story Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout revolves around a young and promising sorceress Reizalin Stout or just Riza, who wants to explore the world and become the best alchemist in the world. Raised by strict parents, she is forced to live on an isolated but safe island, while scary monsters and amazing discoveries await her on the mainland.

In the company of childhood friends and two stray alchemists Impel and Lila, she quietly slips out of her father’s house and sets off for uncharted territory, where she is waiting for unexpected discoveries that can change the lives of all the inhabitants of her native city of Kuriken.

Using a magic cauldron to create items, Riesa gets key recipes for the plot or opens them thanks to a new alchemy system. Previously, you chased rare recipes, performing special tasks to collect components or in battles with monsters, sometimes replenishing the collection in local shops. At Atelier Ryza you can only buy a small fraction of the recipes. The alchemical system assumes that you enclose objects of the necessary elements, opening the tree of possibilities and amplifiers, on the branches of which there are transformers.

So, a metal ingot can be smelted from ore, but if you add the bone of a large monster to the recipe, you will create a sickle, and the cracker turns into a bomb.

All potential recipes are visible in the selection menu when creating items, and all that may interfere with you is a lack of components and a low level of alchemy.

The approach to the quality and effects of objects has also changed. If in the previous parts it was necessary to look for high-level or special things, then now the already created object can be rebuilt, improving the quality or endowed with special properties.

You can also improve armor or weapons without leaving the boiler or the anvil added to the atelier.
