Board of Directors Atari signed an agreement on a new approach based on the creation of premium games for PC and consoles. The focus on mobile and shareware games will decline.
The first releases will take place already in the current fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2023. That said, the new titles should solidify the Atari VCS line of games.
Atari said the competitive and marketing environment is putting pressure on the shareware business model, but the company will continue to support successful games in the segment with a consistent user base.
Shareware games such as Roller Coaster Tycoon Stories, Crystal Castles, Castles & Catapults, Ninja Golf, and Atari Combat: Tank Fury will either be shut down or sold.
Atari expects the new strategy to generate losses of 5 million euros.
