Russell Crowe told that the original version of the script “Gladiator” he was not at all impressed.
According to the actor, working on the film was a unique experience, because the original script that was presented to the team was “very bad.” The producer of the project did not even want to send it to Crowe, because he understood that he was unlikely to react positively to him – he did not know that the actor had already read the script.
Instead, the producer pushed him to a personal meeting with Ridley Scottwho told the actor his vision of the film. Crowe literally struck the director’s eyes, and he felt that they would work together.
And if at first the team went with the project at a certain risk, then at the end of the shootings everyone already understood that they had something special.
