ASUS introduced Tinker Edge R single-board computer equipped with a neural processor

Company Asus introduced Tinker edge r – A single-board computer designed for applications with artificial intelligence systems.

Tinker Edge R hardware based on chip system Rockchip RK3399Pro with a built-in neural processor, machine learning accelerator, which is characterized by high performance, low power consumption and is great for creating smart applications.

According to the manufacturer, thanks to the built-in machine learning accelerator, the performance of the Tinker Edge R single-board computer reaches three trillion operations per second (3TOPS), and this is with very economical energy consumption.

“The optimized neural network architecture allows the Tinker Edge R single-board computer to support multiple machine learning platforms and is fully compatible with most popular machine learning models.

Rockchip RK3399Pro 6-core architecture-based processor Arm big.LITTLE A72 + A53, allows you to use a Tinker Edge R single-board computer for graphics applications, machine vision, video, audio and voice applications, as well as applications with special technical security requirements, “the description says.

The hardware of the Tinker Edge R includes 4 GB of dual-channel LPDDR4 RAM. The fourth-generation DDR memory modules feature high speed and low power consumption. An additional 2 GB of memory is allocated for the neural processor, which ensures its stability and high efficiency of machine learning systems.

The Tinker Edge R single-board computer also has 16 GB of eMMC built-in memory and SD 3.0 support for quickly reading and writing data to the operating system, applications, and file system.

In addition, the Tinker Edge R single-board computer has a range of I / O ports, including a MIPI-DSI port for displays and touch screens and two MIPI-CSI ports for compatible cameras, which allows it to be used for machine vision systems, for example, for measuring depth or interactive advertising applications in smart vending machines.

The development environment was created with the expectation of both beginner amateur developers and experienced professionals, ASUS said. Programmable LEDs can be reconfigured to act as indicators of system messages or device status. GPIO contacts are indicated in different colors for easy connection.

The Tinker Edge R single-board computer also has a full-size connector HDMIports USB Type-A, USB Type-C, a gigabit network connector and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as a PCI Express Mini slot for 4G / LTE expansion cards.

ASUS also stresses that the operating system Tinker OS – An excellent starting point for creating a new project. Based on Debian distribution kit Linux Differs in efficiency and wide functionality. Support for the Android operating system allows you to use the Tinker Edge R single-board computer for a number of completely different tasks: launching popular applications for the operating system Android, inference of neural networks, machine learning, and more.

With its user-friendly API and development kit (SDK), machine learning models for image classification and object detection applications can be deployed on a Tinker Edge R single-board computer. Also supports the conversion of models from Caffe, Tensorflow, TensorFlow Lite, ONNX, Darknet and other software libraries for building deep learning neural networks.
