Last week AMD officially presented the line of Big Navi video cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture – Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 6800XT and RX 6800… As part of the announcement, the company disclosed the technical specifications and published comparative tests of new graphics accelerators in some games, but none of them provided parameters with ray tracing.
So far, the manufacturer has not shared information about the performance of new GPUs in projects with ray tracing, but confirmed that ray tracing will be supported in all games that run without using proprietary APIs and NVIDIA extensions such as DirectX RTX and Vulkan RTX…
“AMD will support all industry-standard ray-traced games, including the Microsoft DXR API and the upcoming Vulkan Ray Tracing API. Games that use proprietary ray-tracing APIs and extensions will not be supported.”
Microsoft DXR and Vulcan Ray Tracing APIs are gradually becoming more popular, and with the release of AMD RX 6000 Series graphics cards, developers will get even more push to support these standards.
