ADATA XPG SPECTRIX D60G DDR4-3600 RGB Memory Module Review

High performance memory is one of the pillars of a fast PC. Company ADATA released last year D60G 3600 CL14which we’ll talk about today.

The memory supplied with two 8 gigabyte dies comes in a fairly simple cardboard box. Inside, it is securely fixed in a plastic case. The system is built on reliable and high-performance B-die chips from the company Samsung

Due to the use of RGB lighting, which covers 60% of the module area, the cooling is made of polymer material. As a result, the chip heats up a little more than solutions with aluminum cooling, but this is not critical.

Using the RGB Sync XPG utility, you can customize the flash of the memory to your liking, synchronizing it with other system components or music. LEDs can be smoothly sparkling or pulsing.

By default, the modules are set by the BIOS at 2666 MHz with a voltage of 1.2 V. But as tests show, the system operates quite stably and without errors at 4000 and even 4200 MHz. Whether you should go beyond the 3600 MHz specified in the standard is your personal desire. Tests show that with a powerful processor and fast SSD, the performance gain in individual applications can be up to 20%. With standard hardware, the gain will be ~ 5-6%.

A significant disadvantage for this model is the lack of a thermal sensor, the presence of which has become the standard for premium solutions. It should be noted that the backlight is really a nice addition to high frequencies and stable operation. The price for a set for June 2023 ranges from 8 to 11 thousand rubles. At the same time, older models with two 16 gigabyte modules are also available at a price of 18 thousand rubles.

The D60G 3600 CL14 has excellent overclocking potential, reliability and cute RGB lighting, but you can buy much more affordable models from the same ADATA, such as the Spectrix D60G DDR4-3200 CL16. However, if you have a powerful enough machine, then the D60G 3600 CL14 or its older 32 GB version, DT60 AX4U360016G18A, is the most justified choice.
