In the early stages, Minecraft received updates quite often, although some of them were released without warning. These patches were usually released on Friday, but one of them, version Alpha 1.1.1, was released on Saturday, September 18, 2010.
Alpha 1.1.1 added fishing rods and the ability to crouch, however a bug in this update could make the screen completely gray. Soon, developers from the Mojang studio fixed a bug in the Alpha 1.1.2 patch. The bug was fixed so quickly that Alpha 1.1.1 was available for download for only 3 hours and 25 minutes.
Since then, enthusiasts have tried to find version Alpha 1.1.1, but due to the unexpected release and a bug (players who managed to download the update removed this version), even the Omniarchive group, which is engaged in archiving old versions of Minecraft, almost lost hope.
Lunasorcery plugged in a USB stick with old files and found the “minecraft.jar” file dated September 18, 2010. She opened the archive and found that it was indeed Alpha 1.1.1. The find was later confirmed by members of the Omniarchive.
