A random bug from Onimusha had a big impact on Devil May Cry

Samurai Action Onimushadebuted two decades ago on the console Playstation 2, had a big impact on the franchise Devil may cry – two famous series Capcom one amusing and rather unexpected incident tightly connects. Father of Adventures Dante told about this in correspondence with fans. Hideki Kamiya

According to the game designer, one of the key mechanics of the Devil May Cry combat system, namely the launcher and air combos, appeared in his project due to an accidental bug in the very first part of Onimusha

Both PlayStation 2 exclusives were created in parallel to each other in adjacent offices, and once visiting the Onimusha developers, Kamiya saw how, after successful attacks, opponents flew into the air. Inspired by this idea, he returned to his own team of specialists and asked them to artificially create a similar system, which ultimately determined the entire focus of the Devil May Cry combat system.

Remembering the creation of the original Devil May Cry, Kamiya also reminded fans once again that this project originally grew out of the prototype of the fourth part of Resident Evil. Creating the next installment of the horror series, the game designer got so carried away that he deviated much from the original concept, and then, with the blessing of Shinji Mikami, turned his brainchild into a completely independent product.

Recall that the premiere of the original Devil May Cry took place on the PlayStation 2 console back in 2001. The first part gave rise to a full-fledged series, the last release of which for today appears Devil may cry 5
