Wii U and especially the original Wii have long been discontinued. New games for them are practically not released, but some third-party developers continue to support outdated platforms even in 2023. So, this summer on both consoles will be released Shakedown: Hawaii – continuation of the retro action movie Retro City: Rampage from the studio Vblank entertainment.
Ports will offer all of the original Shakedown: Hawaii content, including updates Mogul and Full tankas well as a number of new features, such as 4: 3 format support. Both versions will be compatible with Wii Remote, Wii Classic Controller, Wii Classic Controller Pro and GameCube Controller gamepads, and on Wii U touch screen support will also appear.
Designer Brian Provinciano explained the decision to release the game on old consoles as follows:
“Like most of my ports, the idea of releasing Shakedown: Hawaii on the Wii arose one Friday evening out of curiosity. Perhaps I had an attack of nostalgia for the Wii that night, but I suddenly wondered … how long it actually takes port creation time? What would it be like to play with a Wii Remote controller? How will it look in 4: 3 format? Is it possible to reach 60 frames per second right away or will it need optimization? I had a lot of questions, but as soon as I picked up the Wii Remote and started playing, I immediately realized that I want to bring this matter to the end. “
Shakedown: Hawaii for Wii will be printed in a limited edition of 3 thousand disks of the PAL region. Since Wii has a regional lock, this partly explains why the studio also decided to transfer the game to Wii U, where there are no such restrictions.
Wii version goes on sale July 9th by price $ 29.99. The game will be released on Wii U in August. Then she gets to Steam.
Shakedown: Hawaii originally released the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC in May 2019, and in September of the same year appeared on the Nintendo 3DS.
