SÉBASTIEN LOEB RALLY EVO

The Italian developer Milestone has historically been characterized by developing video games linked to the world of motor and its different disciplines.

Moto GP, MXGP or the recent RIDE, are some well-known examples of the titles that have led his signature. Although logically we are not talking about great references within the genre, it is clear that Milestone knows its audience well and offers

XCOM 2

products for the most hardcore fans of each discipline. For this new release, Sébastien Loeb has lent his image and participated closely to create some of

the most interesting contents of the title. Even so we find ourselves with a videogame that despite its good intentions has serious playable deficiencies and very limited contents.

Crazy laws of physics
The rallies are a sport discipline much loved by the players as it has had great titles throughout its history. On this occasion, Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo presents good ideas but it does not go so far as to fill that gap of great titles that have already lasted too long.

By getting behind the wheel (either with one of the compatible steering wheels)or with the command) it is clear that this title is very far from being a simulator and that the experience as playable as arcade is not good either. In spite of having different surfaces

(earth, asphalt, gravel, mud and snow) the control is not precise and offers very unrealistic physics. Cars that go flying, collisions with invisible objects,

lack of tact according to the different surfaces and an absurd randomness in the collisions with the environment, turn the experience into a kind of game of chance. To the little realism of the physics and the absolute lack of precision in the conduction is added a bad implementation of the rivals in the Rallycross races. Crash against other cars and see them disappear,

If we can put aside all these problems (something that the average player will not get) we find a video game that can be fun. One of the best implemented playable elements are the co-pilot’s orders. Thanks to a small tutorial we will know all the technicalities necessary to drive to the limit and in competition, always in Spanish, we will listen punctually to the advice of our partner.

To try to make the experience easier for less experienced players, Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo presents several driving aids. Braking assistance, stability control, automatic change or the difficulty of AI are some of the elements that will allow us to adapt the game to our needs. Rewinding is another aid that we can use and, although it has enough time to correct the mistakes made,

it has a poor implementation. The main problem arises when we try to do a second rewind in the same area and we realize that it is not possible. What causes this? That if we have failed in an area and we stumble again on the same stone (yes, humans are like that) we will not be able to rewind again. All these playable deficiencies irremediably damage the experience and, although

the video game can be fun if we ignore many of its defects, the title is not up to its competitors or what is expected from a video game in 2016. The main problem arises when we try to do a second rewind in the same area and we realize that it is not possible.
