Atari returns to making major games for consoles and PCs with first releases scheduled for this year

Company Atari, which has focused on creating mobile and shareware games in recent years, decided to change its business strategy and refocus on the release of premium projects for PCs and modern consoles… This is reported by the edition GamesIndustry.biz… The Board of Directors approved a new development model.

“It’s in our blood. This is what will tie our story to our future,” the company said, referring to premium games.

According to representatives of Atari, there is increased competition in the segment of shareware games, which puts serious pressure on the company’s business. As a result, she will reduce the number of free releases, but will continue to support successful projects.

Moreover, games such as Roller Coaster Tycoon Stories, Crystal castles, Castles & Catapults, Ninja golf, and Atari Combat: Tank Fury will be completely closed or sold to third parties.

In addition, Atari will divest its casino business in Africa.

Atari cites its main goal for the future as “building a powerful line of premium games across all platforms.” The first releases are planned for the current fiscal year.

The new strategy should also positively impact the Atati VCS console gaming lineup.

As a result of the restructuring, Atari will lose 5 million euros.
