Company Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the purchase of a Finnish studio Housemarque, which recently launched the PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal.
Head of SIE Worldwide Studios Herman Hulst noted that I am glad to welcome Housemarque to the Playstation studios… According to him, The studio has a distinct vision and ability to create memorable games that resonate with the PlayStation community.
Co-founder and head of Housemarque Ilari Kuittenen in turn, noted that joining PlayStation Studios will provide the studio with a clear future and resources for further growth.
Interestingly, apart from HousemarqueSony appears to have acquired another studio. PlayStation Japan official Twitter account posted news with the purchase of Housemarque, but attached a picture with a logo to the post Bluepoint games – remake creators Shadow of the colossus and Demon’s Souls… At the moment, the post has already been deleted.
Including Housemarque, Sony has 17 in-house studios under the wing, creating PlayStation exclusives.
