Independent studio Phigames and publishing Dear villagers announced that research metroidvania with a hacker bias Recompile will be released in August 2023. And not only on the PC, as originally planned, but also on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The entire action of the game takes place within one second of real time. For us, it will take a lot longer, since everything happens inside the mainframe. And our role is a piece of malicious code trapped here.
Dealing with platform levels, unlocking new abilities and finding workarounds, we try to break out of captivity by changing the configuration of the entire system. The game’s traditional Metroidvania mechanics combine with an extensive storytelling system, allowing us to choose when to fight and when to hack or flee.
