The announcement appears to have come in response to a wave of criticism when the authors of the Battle of Fallujah project stated that “the game will not make political statements.” Users noted that it is virtually impossible to dispense with certain judgments when it comes to a real and acute conflict.
The developers began a new appeal with the phrase:
We understand that recreated in Six Days in Fallujah events are inseparable from politics. Here’s how we try to show different points of view and different perspectives.
Highwire Games
They went on to reveal what appeared to be the “technology unique to games” that they mentioned earlier — documentary inserts that would give “context” to gameplay moments. They will talk about the causes of the conflict and the points of view of different parties.
For example, it will not be possible to use white phosphorus in the game, but the consequences of such an attack will be told through documentary footage. Perhaps at this moment many will remember an episode from Spec Ops: The Linewhere such a choice was part of the gameplay.
According to the creators, they conducted a series of interviews with participants in the war in Iraq, including military and civilians – the latter were 26 people. The gameplay will allow you to convey the feeling of war in a way that would not work out in other ways.
The fresh statement has already caused some discontent on the network – users note that earlier the developers talked about the “absence” of a policy, and now they say the opposite.
The project has no exact release date yet.
