Clones of popular games, which are now fashionable to be called homages, have long been an integral part of the industry. Company One More Dream Studios decided to pay tribute to one of the brightest releases of 2018 – Celeste…
New product called Ageless tells about the girl Kiara, who has been in deep depression for a long time, but one day she finds the real meaning of life. The heroine learns about the magic gates that endow the petitioner with a unique gift if he can pass all the tests.
Upon reaching the portal, Kiara receives a unique magic bow that allows her to manipulate time. For example, it can now age or rejuvenate plants and animals. Using these skills, the chosen one tries to help a stranger named V save her sister from a fatal illness.
The game is divided into five zones and 15 levels. Each of the spheres offers new mechanics in addition to the basic skills. At the very beginning, Kiara makes decrepit and fat animals from small rhinos, under which the floor breaks, then gets the opportunity to make large-scale jumps and overcome long distances, absorbing the life force of flora and fauna. Water levels appear, where the heroine rides on fish and jumps on whales, as if on a trampoline, and then the mechanics change again, offering to use the power of portals, change the environment and move along wave roads inside the ancient titan.
Each new level gap is a simple puzzle, to solve which you need to use the entire available arsenal of skills and capabilities of the environment. The difficulty level changes in waves, so that soon after the start, you may encounter very difficult tasks, and then go through several stages without any problems. Some of the tasks are exclusively of a bonus nature – at the level inside the titan, you can generally lose the line of the main storyline. Separately, the authors left hidden letters to the lovers of collecting, which can be taken only during time dilation.
Pixel graphics give the game a retro look without annoying. Fish, robots, plants and animals look cute and harmless. And even the boss in the middle of the adventure does not cause negative emotions. At the same time, the gameplay itself shows through very tough timings and not always successful controls. For example, in one place due to lack of air and a half-second delay, I died more than 50 times before I could complete the puzzle. However, after several hours of playing even such outdated mechanics you get used to.
