Editorial staff Gamemag.ru continues acquaintance with gaming accessories from the company Logitech… One of these days another computer mouse from the recently presented line came to our office Color Collection – Logitech G305… This is a professional wireless gaming mouse with technology LIGHTSPEED… Its average cost, according to Yandex.Market, leaves about 4200 rubles…
COMPLETE SET AND APPEARANCE
Logitech gaming devices are traditionally delivered in a dark gray cardboard box with logos and product images. Inside you will find not only a mouse, but also a description in 29 languages, an insert with visual instructions, a sticker with the Logitech G logo, a 1.5W Duracell battery, a thank you booklet and a USB extension cable.
Inside the mouse, under the cover, there is a compartment for one AA battery and a LIGHTSPEED USB receiver in a special storage compartment. Product dimensions – 116.6 x 62.15 x 38.2 mm. The weight of the G305 with the supplied battery is 97 g, and without it – 74 g. The USB receiver weighs 1 gram. Once connected to a PC, Windows 10 operating system quickly detects a plug-n-play device and can be used immediately.
The mouse is made in a classic shape and has a comfortable grip, and thanks to its symmetrical shape, it is convenient to use it with both left and right hands – depending on whether you are right-handed or left-handed. All buttons fit comfortably under the fingers and are squeezed quite easily without any effort. The mouse wheel is embossed, in the style of a tire tread, and does not irritate the skin to the touch. It spins quite nicely and emits a traditional sound.
Interestingly, even with such a low weight, the G305 does not seem weightless – its balance is quite pleasant.
A lilac version of the case came to us for testing. The area with the wheel and the sensitivity switch is made in an extravagant purple color.
In stores, this product is available in other colors: black, white and blue. Logitech’s plastic is traditionally very strong and not easily soiled. It is easy to clean it with a damp cloth or cloth if it gets dirty or dust appears.
At the bottom of the mouse is a sensor, a power switch and six plastic legs, one of which surrounds the sensor in a ring. It also lists the device model and another Logitech logo in the same purple color.
BUTTONS
The mouse received 6 buttons, including one built into the wheel.
There are two main buttons under the middle and index fingers – the right and the left. On the purple highlighted part of the body there is a scroll wheel, which is also an additional third button, and below it there is a key for adjusting the preset sensitivity levels.
Below you will also find an LED that is used not only to notify you about power on or a discharging battery, but also about the selected profile when you press the sensitivity toggle button. When activated, the LED glows blue, on the first profile – yellow, on the second – white, on the third – orange and on the fourth – pink. The diode indicates a discharged battery when the capacity level drops to about 15%. On the left side there are forward and backward buttons.
SENSITIVITY SETTINGS
This wireless mouse supports sensitivity from 200 to 12000 dpi. For quick switching between profiles, as we said above, a special button under the wheel is responsible.
By default, four sensitivity options are available: 400, 800, 1600 and 3200. However, you can customize the quick profiles and increase their number to 5 if you download the official Logitech G HUB offer.
SPECIFICATIONS
This mouse uses a proprietary HERO sensor, which allows you to reduce the polling rate of wireless communication to 1000 Hz or 1 ms, and also has high energy efficiency. In high performance mode, a single AA battery should last 250 hours, while in power saving mode (about 8ms delay) this figure will more than double. Also, this low latency rate is achieved thanks to the USB receiver using LIGHTSPEED technology, which can eliminate latency, stability and quality problems.
OFFICIAL SOFTWARE
Traditionally, Logitech has an official app called G HUB for customizing gaming accessories. When you turn it on, the title screen will display all the manufacturer’s devices that are currently connected to your PC.
If the device is wireless, as in our case, then the battery charge level will be displayed under the picture, as well as information about the mode in which the device is currently operating: performance or energy saving. In addition, above the product list, you can configure profiles to use company peripherals for different scenarios, for example, for games of different genres.
Let’s proceed directly to setting up the mouse itself. To do this, just click on the image of the device, and you will immediately fall into its settings.
The first section that appears before us is the “Assignments” menu, which allows you to customize each button on the mouse or disable unnecessary ones in your opinion. In addition, there you can assign macros, actions in running applications or launch the desired program. In the second and last section, you can adjust the “Sensitivity”. In the case of our solution, the cursor speed can be adjusted in the range from 200 to 12000 in 50 dpi increments. In addition, as we said above, the number of mouse profiles can be expanded from 4 to 5 thanks to the application. Also in the same section you can configure one of the four options (125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz and 1000 Hz) polling rate per second, as well as select the power mode – high performance or energy efficient.
TOTAL
The Logitech G305 is a very good wireless mouse that demonstrates professional capabilities at a very affordable price tag for this level of devices. On the one hand, there is nothing superfluous in it and outwardly it does not stand out, but its capabilities and impressive autonomy may well cover the needs of not only ordinary players, but also professionals.
