Community of fans of the crime fighter series Yakuza known for his dedication to his beloved franchise and vivid creativity, which often turns into real Internet memes. In turn, the company SEGA loves fan creations, ideas and suggestions, and often plays along with users. And this is exactly the case we are seeing now with the English release Yakuza: Like a Dragon – the latest installment of the long-running gangster saga.
The funny situation started when Twitter user John Rickiardi jokingly pointed out that the action menus in Yakuza: Like a Dragon can add up to a word SEGA provided that the function “More“change to something else, for example”Extra” or “Etc“.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon was awesome. Excited to see it in English for the first time! BTW, not too late to change “More” to “Etc” or “Extra” to make the menu options basically spell out SEGA pic.twitter.com/kcUoim06hC

It didn’t take long before I saw a funny idea Scott Strickhart, producer of the localization department at SEGAwho commented on the entry in a somewhat ambiguous way. As a result, it turned out that he liked the idea so much that he and his team really hastily changed this part of the translation, replacing “More” on the “Etc“and eventually spelling the name”SEGA“…

Delighted with this state of affairs, Rickkiardi said that “mission accomplished“, and praised the team of translators who are willing to listen to the fans’ wishes even at this late stage of the work. Kotaku asked the fan for a comment, and he again expressed his respect for the localizers and their openness to dialogue.
“I’m just glad that they liked the idea so much that they really implemented it. I understand what it is like to offer something in the last stages of work, sometimes the result is good, sometimes not, but when it comes to a team of translators who really love I love SEGA, I love Yakuza, so it’s great to leave my little mark in the game. Thanks to Scott and his people for making this possible! “said the moved fan.
