KFC fast food restaurant chain intends to print artificial chicken meat nuggets using a special 3D bioprinter. According to Irina Gushchina, KFC’s PR Director for Russia, the CIS, Central and Eastern Europe, it’s technically impossible to print chicken wings. But in the future this is likely to be possible.
As a raw material, a mixture of vegetable proteins and meat grown in the laboratory will be used. After that, the resulting product will be sent to restaurants and cook. It is alleged that no chicken will be harmed in production.
The technical side of the project will be provided by 3D Bioprinting Solutions laboratory. At the same time, we are talking about small batches of synthetic meat.
It is not yet specified in which cities such nuggets will be available, however, they can be tried before the end of the year. Although there is still a certification stage ahead.
