Studio Sucker punch spent many years creating Ghost of tushusha – Perhaps the last significant major exclusive to the PlayStation 4 console before the start of the next generation. And now, when there is only a week left before the release of the project, the developers decided to share new interesting information about the samurai action.
In the story, the players will play for the samurai Jin Sakai, who finds himself on Tsushima Island in the midst of the first Mongol invasion of Japan. Therefore, it is not surprising that the studio Sucker punch decided to add a black and white cinematic mode to the game. The creators drew inspiration from the classic samurai films of the famous director Akira Kurosawa, among which “Seven Samurai” and “Brave Samurai.”
IN conversation with Entertainment Weekly Creative Director Jason connell confirmed that the addition of this mode to Ghost of Tsushima was approved by the heirs of the famous Japanese filmmaker. He also added that the game is not just a black and white filter.
When you turn on the mode Kurosawa mode the action movie will look like Kurosawa’s films, released more than half a century ago. The developers tried to convey the director’s style by adding a grain to the picture. In addition, the creators played a little with the sound. The team responsible for the sound design of the game has an internal toolbox that imitated the sounds of an old TV and, in particular, megaphones, radio, TVs from the 50s of the last century. All this will create the feeling of cinema entertainment in the game.
In addition to Kurosawa movies, the creators of Tsushima’s Ghost also drew inspiration from the comics. Usagi Yedzimbo about anthropomorphic animal fighters and fighting game Karateka from the author of Prince of Persia.
