British movie veteran Ian Hill, the star of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Alien, passed away at the age of 88 years. The death of the actor was confirmed by his agent in an appeal to the publication The Guardian.
“We are very sad to inform that Sir Ian Holm died this morning at the age of 88. Charming, kind and incredibly talented, we will miss him very much.”
It is reported that Hill suffered from Parkinson’s disease and died peacefully this morning in a hospital surrounded by relatives and doctors.
For his acting career, Holm received the BAFTA Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1981 film Chariots of Fire. Fans know the actor for the role of Bilbo Baggins in the epic trilogy “Lord of the Rings“and prequels”Hobbit“

The actor has a fourth wife and five children from previous marriages.
