Almost two months after the release Half-Life: Alyx got workshop support Steam. A beta version of development tools, including a level editor, has also become available to users. It will allow you to create new levels, models, textures and animations for a VR shooter.
In the coming weeks, developers plan to expand and improve the tools. A fresh update includes new or updated versions:
- Hammer is the latest version of the level editor on the Source 2 engine.
- Material Editor is a tool for creating and setting up materials on the Source 2 engine.
- ModelDoc is a tool for viewing, modifying, and compiling models with animations, collisions, and other gameplay attributes.
- AnimGraph is a tool for creating complex animations with smooth transitions.
- Particle Editor is a tool for creating particle effects.
- Subrect Editor is a tool for creating smart texture sheets, also known as hotspot textures.
- Source Filmmaker is a tool for cinematic rendering and animation on the Source 2 engine.
In addition to these tools, the update includes several sample maps. In addition, all Half-Life: Alyx cards are available as editable sources. In the future, developers will share news about other features and less extensive additional tools.

Finally, in a fresh update, the authors added a native version of the game for Linux using the Vulkan API and the ability to use Vulkan on Windows, improved the viewer mode, and also made other corrections.
