Final development decision Shenmue IV not yet accepted, but the creator of the series Yu Suzuki hopes to continue the series and complete the story of the saga, which started in 1999 with the release of the original Shenmue on the console Sega dreamcast. The Japanese game designer told about this in an interview with the publication IGN Japan. The developer has a lot of ideas for the fourth part.
- According to Suzuki, the third part was created primarily for fans. The team was thinking about how to please the most devoted audience, and not how to get more money. As for Shenmue IV, its franchise author hopes to make interesting both long-time fans and newcomers. In this case, the “spirit of Shenmue” will be preserved.
- In Shenmue IV, Suzuki would improve the animation of characters and faces in particular. This element of Shenmue III has been criticized.
- Cities need to get more alive – the father of the series wants to see more NPCs on the streets. But the world itself does not have to increase in size, the developer would prefer to focus on more compact locations instead of openworld.
- As for the plot, the fans would finally be given answers to many old questions. For example, the background of the mysterious girl Shenhua.
- Finally, speaking about the gameplay, Suzuki noted that the casts would return in Shenmue IV – in the third part, Ryo cannot throw enemies. The developer would also make the time-rewind and fast-travel system more convenient.
