The project will be dedicated to the adventures of Gaston and Lef, and the performers of their roles – Luke Evans and Josh Gad – will return to their roles again. The mini-series will consist of six episodes with various musical numbers. Composer Alan Mencken is in talks to return.
The creators are Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, authors of Once Upon a Time, and the same Josh Gad is involved in the development of the project. The plot unfolds long before the events of the original, at the same time expanding the familiar universe.
A remake of “Beauty and the Beast” with Emma Watson and Dan Stevenson, the prequel to which the series performs, was released in 2017. Actors themselves are not yet involved in the development, but sources say that they can peer as a cameo.
