Last week Deep silver and 4A games confirmed long-circulating rumors about the upcoming exit Metro: Redux on the Nintendo switch. Similar to versions for Playstation 4 and Xbox one, the collection will offer owners of a hybrid platform to re-release shooters Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light along with all the DLCs included.
Many users of the console would probably be interested in learning more about the resolution and frame rate, but the official press release did not contain such information. Shortly after the announcement, the portal Wccftech contacted the distributor Koch media for information on the technical features of the port. I managed to find out the following.
Both parts of the collection will work on Switch with a fixed frame rate of 30 FPS, but with a different resolution depending on the mode selected: native 720p in the portable and dynamic 1080p when the console is connected to the TV via the docking station.
The original versions of Metro 2033 and Last Light worked on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 at 30 FPS in less than 720p. 2014 re-releases increased frame rates and resolution to 60 FPS / 1080p on the PlayStation 4 and up to 60 FPS / 912p on the Xbox One.
Based on the above details, the Metro: Redux port for Switch should be considered a transitional link between versions for past consoles and current ones. The release will take place on February 28th.
