In 2023 Nintendo switch will face a new stage of competition. In the fall, Sony and Microsoft will release their new game consoles – Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X, and naturally, many developers will focus on these systems. However, representatives of one of the studios involved in porting games to Switch, believe that the Nintendo console will definitely not go unnoticed.
In an interview for the Nintendo Everything portal, Vice President of the Dutch company Engine Software Rud van de Moosdike stated that Switch in the market “exists in its own dimension and will continue to show good results”. The uniqueness of the console also implies that the power of the device does not play a critical value.
“In my opinion, the Nintendo Switch, like the Wii before it, exists in its own market dimension and will continue to show good results even after the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. We have repeatedly seen that Nintendo consoles have their own unique features, which aren’t tied to having the fastest processor or the most memory. That’s why I always have to smile when I hear someone talking about Nintendo’s counted days. “
Studio Engine software already ported several games for Switch. Among them are Ni no Kuni and Into the Breach. Rud van de Moosdike praised Nintendo as the Japanese company did a fantastic job presenting the creators with the right tools and development environment. “even before the system became available”.
“We have come a long way from the moment we received a printed circuit board with cables and a manual in Japanese to the moment we were able to start porting games to the console.”
