YouTube CEO awarded herself a free speech award

CEO of video hosting Youtube Susan Wojcicki found herself at the center of a new scandal. The fact is that the top manager managed to award herself a free speech award.

Last week non-profit organization Freedom Forum held an award ceremony Free Expression Award, which is awarded for achievements in the struggle for freedom of speech. One of the awards was presented to Susan Wojcicki.

Hochma is that one of the sponsors of the Free Expression Award is … Youtube… Even more outrageous was Wojcicki’s speech of thanks, in which she admitted that the video hosting administration was actively involved in censorship.

According to the top manager, many videos have been published on YouTube that only “technically” correspond to the “freedom of speech”, which YouTube allegedly “protects in every possible way.” Therefore, the administration will not recommend “controversial content” to ordinary users.

As you can imagine, ordinary users, journalists, content creators and bloggers did not appreciate Susan Wojcicki’s speech. The recording of the performance was published on the official YouTube channel and received only 32 likes with 10 thousand dislikes.

Commentators note that it was Wojcicki’s policy that became the reason why they are now trying to create an alternative to YouTube, since the administration, without a clear reason, bans channels and deprives them of monetization. Don’t forget that YouTube plans to remove the dislikes counter in the near future.
