Will Front Mission be back? Square Enix has registered a new trademark worldwide

In March the company Square enix registered a new trademark Front mission in all key markets. Records of this were found in the information bases of the sites of the Japanese, American, European, Canadian and Australian patent offices. Game * Spark

In Europe and Australia, the brand is still in the category of physical games and figurines, while in Japan and the US it covers provisions directly related to video games.

This is the first registration of a Front Mission trademark since 2009

Front Mission is a series of tactical RPGs about battle mechs that debuted in 1995 on Super nintendo… The main line consists of five numbered parts, the last of which came out in 2005 on Playstation 2 and did not leave Japan.

In 2009, Square Enix tried to bring the franchise back in a new format by releasing a shooter Front mission evolved, however, it was criticized by fans and journalists and flopped in sales.

Another 10 years later, Square Enix introduced an action-adventure movie Left alive with a setting in the Front Mission universe, but it also crashed – the rating on Metacritic barely reached 40 points out of 100. Read our review here

Perhaps now the company will go back to basics and release a new tactical RPG?
