War Thunder developers summed up the results of the Gaijin Jam # 1 “Hardcore” hackathon – the winners were determined

Company Gaijin Entertainment announced the end of the hackathon Gaijin Jam # 1 ‘Hardcore’, whose members could only use proprietary engines. Their task was to make a game on the theme “Hordes… As a result, for a prize fund of 600 thousand rubles more than 40 teams fought, and their work was evaluated by independent experts and leading programmers of Gaijin

“Taking into account the complexity of the task, the number of participants exceeded our expectations, and the quality of many works was also pleasantly surprised,” he noted. Anton Yudintsev, co-founder of Gaijin Entertainment.

In turn Yaroslav Kravtsov, co-founder of a game development studio Workshop 15 and one of the judges of Gaijin Jam noted that the competition had “unexpectedly many results” and “stuck in some games for a long time”.

Gaijin Jam # 1 awards were distributed as follows:

“Jam is a great compromise between basic design and tabletop coding. There is a wide field for creativity, a clear deadline for completion and an understandable audience of judges and other participants. We have never participated in jams before, because we never had the energy and time for that. But this jam was perfect for us – engine writers. And the size of the prizes made it possible to forget about work and take risks, “said Roman Budkeev, one of the authors of the game “O means Horde”.

In the first Gaijin Jam hackathon, it was possible to use only ready-made libraries and frameworks, but not third-party engines like Unity and Unreal, so none of the teams on the jam could do without an engine writer. However, the next hackathons will apply other interesting terms to make each Gaijin Jam special and challenge game developers.
